So many single women

What is going on? According to numbers crunched by the New York Times, more American women are living without a husband than with one. In 2005, 51% of women said they were living without a spouse, up from 35% in 1950 and 49% in 2000.

And it isn't necessarily good news for single men. Many of these women are perfectly content to be single and/or unmarried. Others prefer living together before marriage rather than going through a marriage and divorce.
