Karaoke bar in New York City Times Square

In Japan, karaoke bars are everywhere. While the Japanese are very shy in most situations but when they go to a karaoke bar, they can sing (and even dance) in the company of their friends and family members. Of course, most Japanese are horrible singers like anywhere else (and I have been to many karaoke bars with my friends and just couldn't stand some of the singers), but the loud music and the support of friends make them feel better about themselves. For the same reason, karaoke has become popular worldwide, and particularly in Asia.
