Sarah Palin wanted to abort Trig

"“There just for a fleeting moment I thought, I knew, nobody knows me here. Nobody would ever know. I thought, wow, it is easy. It could be easy to think maybe of trying to change the circumstances. No one would know. No one would ever know,”" said Alaska Governor Sarah Palin at a rally against abortion.

But if you read carefully, what she really says is that she thought of the possibility of an abortion. How disgusting this woman is!

Richard Burr Encourages Run On Banks

Republican Senator Richard Burr is defending his decision to pull as much cash as he could out of ATMs when the banking collapse hit last fall. I really feel sorry for the people of North Carolina who voted for such an idiot to represent them and my fervent hope is that they are not idiots like him.

Has this moron never heard of FDIC?

It's scary to know that this clown creates laws for the United States.

Goldman Sachs changes definition of quarter

"Goldman Sachs announced a huge jump in profits from fourth-quarter 2008 to first-quarter 2009. But as analysts quickly noticed, Goldman changed its definition of “quarter” (in response to a change in its legal status), so that — I kid you not — the month of December, which happened to be a bad one for the bank, disappeared from this comparison," according to Paul Krugman.

Banks are back to doing what got them in trouble in the first place.

Japanese youths forced to work in farms due to unemployment

"He (Tatsunori Kobayashi) is part of Japan’s 2,400-strong Rural Labor Squad, urban trainees dispatched to the countryside under a pilot program to put Japan’s underemployed youth to work tilling its farms," according to NYT.

Who could have imagined that young Japanese people so used to city life that men who were farmers could not find women to marry (and were importing wives from Asia) would be forced to go back to the countryside to make a living? I wonder who will now go to Europe, USA, and other shopping destinations!

Google financial performance in first quarter 2009

"Google is also showing signs that it has adapted quickly to the new economic reality. With its growth slowing sharply compared with a year ago, Google has imposed severe cost controls and slashed expenses. As a result, Google reported net income for the first quarter of $1.42 billion, an 8 percent jump from a year earlier and higher than analysts expected," as reported by the Times.

As a Google publisher, we have noticed that the revenues have declined by about 10% but that is a number we can deal with without any problem considering how awfully other publishers have been affected.

Roxana Saberi trial in Iran

"There is nothing resembling justice in Iran’s prosecution of Roxana Saberi. The government’s accusations against Ms. Saberi, a journalist with dual American-Iranian citizenship, have fluctuated wildly — culminating only last week with charges that she spied for the United States government. Her one-day trial this week was held in secret, and state officials have not revealed any evidence against her," according to an editorial in the New York Times.

Considering how US-Iran relations are, I wonder how wise it was for her to visit Iran. I am all for journalism and taking risks, but if you have seen the movie "Not Without My Daughter," or recall what Iranians did to our embassy staff, Iran is one of the most unsafe places for Americans to visit.
