I am not a flat chested woman
A letter from one of our readers:
"The word "flat" to describe a woman's chest is absurd. It like calling a handicapped person a "cripple", a short person a "midget" and a black person a "n*****." Do you openly use the word "hippo ass" to describe a large person's buttocks, or "cottage cheese thighs" to describe unsightly cellulite?
This term "flat chested" is derogatory (are you comparing them to a floor?) and you convey to women that they have to deal with that description, which is insulting. Try petite, small, or something more attractive that retains some femininity. I'd rather be called fake than flat. This is one thing that drives women to breast implants. It's not a joke, it's not to be laughed at or self deprecating. It's not funny in any way, but "flat chested" is a joke. It's limiting and until the world changes their wording (and preference) here, it will never
change no matter how a women feels about herself, she will still be limited and continuing to use the word "flat" doesn't help.
Perhaps you can help by eliminating the word "flat" when describing small breasted women. Get the word out of there - it's rude. It isn't within them soley, it's the world's preference, and face it, if the world had a choice physically, it wouldn't be "flat" as you so eloquently put it.
By the way, your website photos are of small breasted women and are not those that are completely without the lovely, feminine terms - "flat as a board" and "flat as a pancake" have got to go. Women are supposed to laugh at and not let bother them? With your website, the burden is still on the innocent woman, not everyone else, where the real perception lies and image preference resides. Why don't you help the cause instead of supporting old age terminology and make a real difference?"
