How to be sexy like the French women?

Photo of a fashionable French girl in ParisThis is a follow-up to my previous article on why gym clothes are to be used only when working out.

A lot of you ask (write to me with your questions or thoughts) me how to be a sexy woman, and it ain't an easy question since not only we all have varying opinions on what makes ME sexy, others might have even more different opinions on what makes me sexy.

Maybe we can learn something from the French. Elaine Sciolino, a New York Times journalist says that "For French women, being sexy has nothing to do with age and everything to do with attitude."

While most women in their 30s and 40s and older that I see in the supermarket are not MILFs but women so obsessed with being good soccer moms that they look like trash. On the contrary, a recent study found that 90% of French women over 50 are dating actively, often younger men and are very adventurous in bed.

So what is the secret of French women?

According to Sciolino, the sexiest French women seem naturally skilled in the art of moving, smiling and flirting. She writes, "Chic French women prefer to peel and polish rather than paint their faces. Too much makeup, they say, makes a woman seem older, or worse, “vulgaire.” (Related: Makeup to look younger)

Like Japanese women, French women too spend close to 20 percent of their clothing budgets on lingerie. Just putting on a pair of lace or satin thongs will make you feel different. The other important thing to remember is how to wear your lingerie. If you don't know do some research on the Internet, or as the French do it, hire a stripper to teach you how to wear and how to undress.

Why am I fat?

Photo of a woman with cellulite on her buttIf I look at all the ads on television for losing weight, I started to think that people were really trying to become skinny through diet, exercise, or weight loss surgery.

How wrong I was! According to a new poll from Woman's Day magazine, only 8% of those polled admitted to exercising on a regular basis, yet when asked what they most wish for, 37% stated to be thinner. Just to put it in perspective, two out of three Americans have a weight problem.

And while I also thought that women would want to look younger -- I want to and am terrified of getting old -- in this poll only 6% stated to look younger.

The final shock came to me when I read that if given the option, 78% would rather get a million dollar payout than have Jennifer Aniston's slim physique.

I guess we now know why so many women are fat. They are simply not willing to do the hard work needed to lose weight and would happily waste money on diet pills.

Gorgeous girls with coffins

Photo of a girl in sheer babydoll on calendarYou know when it comes to calendars we have seen it all but the last thing that I expected was that a company will use coffins on its calenders. That's right Cofanifunebri has come up with this gorgeous calendar that has women dressed in lingerie with one thing in common: an equally attractive coffin.

I know many people like to plan their own funeral and pick their own coffin while they are alive -- well, if you are one of those, you might want to hang this calender on your wall.

Be proud of being a woman

Photo of a cute teenager with a microphone and dressed in pink boaEarlier I wrote about real women not being slim like the models and the Hollywood celebrities. Well, I am happy to say that Nancy Mills has created the Spirited Woman Approach to Life and as part of that effort, she is organizing a contest for women of all ages to "express their spirited woman self." To show spirit through song. To have fun singing. And to express enthusiasm, character, creativity, and talent to the world.

Women of all singing levels, from amateur to professional, and all ages, that means from young girls to 100 plus, are invited to enter the contest. You can enter solo or with others -- a group of friends, mom, sister, husbands, brothers, back-up band, kids -- the main performer though must be a woman.

"The contest is not about being the next Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood, it's about expressing yourself through your inner talent, and strutting your spirited woman stuff to the world," says Mills. "It's about having fun."

The winners will be selected by popular vote, just like American Idol. Mills, and her team of three Spirited Woman judges -- singer/songwriter Jamie Shea (member of The Walrus and The Holmes-Shea Band); filmmaker Lisa Murray, who's video "Free Hugs in Hollywood" has been viewed over 500,000 times; and Los Angeles comedienne Roz Browne (winner of numerous comedy awards) -- will pick the top 10 contestants per category, then submit them to the 4,000 plus women in the spirited woman community to vote on and to choose the top three winners in each.
