How to be attractive after weight loss?

Tips to look good and go ahead in life

The sad reality of life is that we are defined by how we look when people first see us. Of course, it is important that we must be beautiful inside to make great friends, be liked by people, and develop a lasting bond with a life partner, our looks are what matters before all this can happen.

That is what happened to Katherine, who gained about 100 lbs as a teenager, weighing well over 250 lbs. After the teasing from classmates got on her nerves, she dropped out of school, and went into depression. "I was at home 24X7X365 and just wouldn't even want to answer the door. I gained some more weight, my self esteem reached its bottom, and I even considered suicide, until my psychiatrist suggested a gastric bypass surgery procedure. Since the surgery, I have lost almost all my weight but since I have been out of the social scene for so long, I still feel awkward approaching people. What can I do to make myself more attractive to others?" she asks.
You seem to have gone through a lot and it might just be the right time to learn a few other skills that could make you more confidentPhoto of a slim woman waving her hand at a party. She comes across as someone who is very approachable. in public and attract others to you. As I said above, since most people see your body in public, even before you say anything the language that your body speaks is all that matters first. According to Gordon Wainright author of Teach Yourself Body Language, here are a few things that you can do to make yourself more approachable:

  • Maintain good eye contact. Yes, even women have to learn to make eye contact in order to make them come across as confident and charming persons.
  • Act upbeat. Remember how they tell you to come across as energetic and excited when you go for a job interview. The same rules apply during all social situations. If you are in room full of people that you do not know at all and if you get discouraged and look sad, no one will approach you. However, if you look as full of energy and sport a smile on your face, people will approach you.
  • Dress well (with a dash of color). Howsoever shallow it might seem, clothes make us look attractive. Clothes do not have to be expensive or branded but they should fit you well, match your skin color and personal style, and be coordinated. And be confident in your style.
  • Listen well. People will love you more if you can simply listen to them and ask questions. Take this idea out of your head that you have something so important to say that you should talk. Most of us will do just fine in life by listening. No I am not saying that you become a doll that only shakes her head in agreement. What I am trying to say is that listening is more important than talking in making you more attractive.
  • Great posture. If you look sloppy, people think of you as someone dull and boring. So stand straight, tuck in your tummy, hold your head high, and smile as often as you can. People will start interpreting your body language as that of a person with confidence, charm, and style.

And that is the kind of people we all want to hang out with.
