18 July 2:19PM Fukuoka
As I write, Colin rang my bell and passed me my book and my CD
album!! David signed both and Tico just the album BUT…
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! I don't believe this!! Omigawd,
omigawd, omigawd!! Okay, okay. Colin passed them my hand-made
gift and David took it away (not to the bin I hope!!). But
apparently, Dave wasn't in the best of mood and didn't say
much for the interview. Oh well… I'm looking forward to the
concert… really am!! Sounds good… the on-stage experience
and all… Geez!! Meanwhile, I'm gonna be all over the
autographs!! Thanks guys!! |
19 July 12:03AM Fukuoka
I
really don't know how to start. I'm just about physically
settled down from the concert. Dammit, I don't know how to
begin!!
-
Okay, when we arrived at the main entrance to Fukuoka Dome
(the one for VIPs, leading through all the dressing rooms), I
began to psyche myself up. After all, it still hasn't quite
dawned upon me that I'm the lucky one since it's always been
"him" or "her" and never
"me".
-
We went to the concert merchandise counters and were
promised a 50% discount which I'm quite glad (prices were
steep). I placed orders for a nice sleeveless blouse and a
handy phone strap which comes in electric blue and is totally
cool. It's interesting to note how Japanese are dressed for
rock concerts. Some ladies came in pretty dresses and
high-heels and I even spotted two men in tuxedoes... :-) - As
we went past the security check, they confiscated my camera
and that got me damn pissed. Fine, that's it, no pictures for
me... :-(
-
I held my breath the moment I saw the interior of the dome.
Somewhat misty, chilly and gray, the extensive crisscrossing
beams on the ceiling is quite a sight to behold. I can't
imagine it as a baseball pitch though. My vision shifted
immediately to the first row, thinking I would be there but I
was quite disappointed to find us seated quite a distance from
the stage. Oh well…
-
Quite obviously, I next looked out for the BOS
(bar-on-stage). Well, it's right there, so no problem, right?
And in some act reminiscent of my Art Elective Program days, I
attempted to visually measure the distance from the BOS to
where the band would possibly be.
-
Concert started rather early and promptly at 7:10 PM. When
the first riff of guitar was sounded, the crowd stood in
unison. I stood still… Can't believe my eyes!! That's David,
and that's Tico and Hugh, then there's Richie and… JON!!
Omigawd, omigawd, omigawd!! Is it them?
-
The first two songs were Livin' On A Prayer and You Give
Love A Bad Name, pretty much the same as the opening I watched
on the Bon Jovi Live In London footage. The tracks to follow I
could hardly remember. There was a cool acoustic set though.
And guess what, I cried (wept) during Runaway and a few songs
later like Next 100 Years and Keep The Faith. "This is
for all the dreamers out there," I remember Jon saying…
