Koto is a very traditional Japanese
musical instrument with 13 strings. The strings sit over movable
bridges and you can create music by moving these bridges. The
instrument is huge - almost six feet long and is believed to have
come to Japan from China.
I photographed this young, but very
well versed,
Japanese woman playing the
koto. She wore a
traditional kimono to play this centuries-old instrument
for us. And if you are music creator and do not have access to
koto to learn/play, there is always
Apple and iTunes to help. You can buy loops. |
