| One of
my simple rules of dining is that I try to eat as much
local cuisine as possible. The food is better,
cheaper, and more authentic, but I make exceptions.
For instance, when I ended up at a
Belgian chocolate restaurant in Dubai because we
needed a
chocolate fix. Somehow after gobbling
delicious Indian food for a week, I needed something
different and standing in front of the Taman Gang and
being charmed inside by the
beautiful
Indian maitre d', I was bowled over by the
interior and when I saw the bar, I was excited that I
could also have a chilled beer after experiencing the
hot weather in New Delhi. In terms of cuisine, for
those of us who have been to
Thai or
Vietnamese
or other
Asian restaurants in the US, the food is comparable
(in other words, it does not justify the outrageous
prices), but the service is out of this world.
Since we were one of the very few diners (lunch time on
a working day; you can see the empty restaurant in the
picture that I took), we were treated like
rock stars. |
