| The day
I was hanging out at the DLF Promenade shopping mall in
Vasanj Kunj in New Delhi, since we did not know better,
I ended up having a very
fine meal at Taman Gang. After we were done
and while just hanging out there and at the DLF Emporio
(where my wife and I shared an
awesome crepe and
good
cup of coffee), I came across the Veda Lounge and Bar.
Since it was broad daylight and there were just a
handful of people hanging out, we were able to check the
inside and were blown away by the decoration. It
reminded me of my stay at the Raj Vilas in Jaipur many
years ago. Unfortunately, there was no opportunity
to hang out there so we decided that we ever
got back to
India we will go hangout there, maybe in the evening,
and probably see all the
cool
Indians.
Well, it so turned out that while
hanging out in the Connaught Place (which to our
disappointment is so run down, full of dust, and a
mess), we got really hungry. Our chauffeur was
parked very far and we were almost tempted to drive to
the Shangri-La, where we have eaten the lunch buffet and
loved it, or to the Le Meridien, where also we like the
many choices. Then out of nowhere, we ended up in
this really messy area but there was sign for Veda.
Without even thinking, we barged right in. It is a
very tiny place, but a different world once you are
inside. We enjoyed the lunch special menu, that
included some beans, roasted paneer (cottage
cheese popular among
Indians), and crackers shaped like
cones. The meal included
curries,
nan bread, and
rice. Awesome and a bargain too. |
