Genetic testing to detect the probability of breast cancer:  In recent years, scientists have been able to develop a method in which by analyzing your genetic makeup and finding out your family history, they can tell you the diseases that you are likely to have.  These are obviously just probabilities.  In some cases, the information can be more predictive, for example, when your probability of having diabetes is 90%.  At other times, they may say that your probability of getting cancer is 55%.  That is why it is best to work with a counselor to decide what it means for you and what to do next.

Double mastectomy:  This is a medical procedure in which the surgeons make an effort to remove the breast tissues most likely to be affected by cancer.  You can never remove 100% of the tissues so the risk never goes away completely, but it is highly minimized.

Breast reconstruction surgery:  Once the procedure above is done, the plastic surgeons can also reconstruct new breasts with the help of skin obtained from the procedure and using implants.  Yes, there will be lots of scars but other than no one can actually notice that you have changed in any way.

Things to know:  Genome testing is still an emerging area.  It is also not widely available and can be very expensive.  Typically, if you are an unfortunate customer of a greedy, heartless American health insurance company, chances are that it will not pay for any of these services or at least give you a very hard time.

Well, she had enough reason to not feel like a woman.  According to her surgeon, Josie was the first woman ever he had seen who zero percent breast tissue.  In other words, she was like a healthy male.  What is interesting to note yet once again that due to the fact that a surgeon needs enough skin to insert an implant, he can only go so big.  In her case, since there was hardly any skin, he inserted DD implants to give her the appearance of a C cup “because there was literally nothing there in the first place.”  The conclusion here is that if you are in a similar situation there is only so big you can go.

According to her, “It’s like putting on a pair of socks, when you do this they pull your leg up, cut and resew it. Quite fabulous…I’ll tell you what, they wake you up because they want you to start moving around after all this surgery. So they wake you up and I said ‘you’ve sewn my legs together!’ It felt like they literally sewed my legs together…It was hanging down and I wanted it tight. That hurts, I wouldn’t advise it… it’s awful when you’ve had that done.”  Well, it is painful but this woman is a drama queen as well and dramatizes it for Anderson Cooper on television.  You need not be scared just because of what she says but it does put it all in perspective.

Many of us had suspected that Coco Austin too had cosmetic surgery but that too was not the case.  These two cases prove that a woman can naturally have a body that many of us need to go under the knife for.
