If you thought that Botox was just for getting rid of wrinkles and fine lines, I have some news for you. It seems that Botox use is growing quite rapidly, but not just for removing fine lines and wrinkles any more. Plastic surgeons and their patients have found new ways to use Botox in the body to look younger, delay signs of aging, or to be just more desirable.
Botox has been approved by the FDA for at least three distinct applications and patients are now choosing to try somewhat non-traditional applications. We have already discussed applications of Botox, and in particular, Botox use for anti-wrinkle treatment. In this article, I will mention some new applications of Botox.
Botox for other parts of the body
Botox was traditionally used in the facial region but many plastic surgeons are now offering it to those patients who want the same effect in other parts of the body. For instance, here are some examples:
- Application in the neck region can produce some of the same results as a neck lift or face lift procedure does.
- In the chest region, Botox can be used as an alternative to mastopexy.
Botox for severe sweating
While relatively less common, Botox is prescribed for those patients who suffer from excessive sweating. However, many people who do not meet the medical definition of excessive sweating, are opting to have the treatment any way to reduce the amount of sweating. There are reports that apart from underarms, some women are choosing to have Botox injections in their private parts to reduce sweat and smell.
