Which laser is the best?

Barbara writes, “I was told by one dermatologist that a Genisys and Titan lasers together would give me the same results as a CO2 laser. Then I was told by a plastic surgeon that has the CO2 laser that I will not get the smoothness from the others as I would from the CO2 laser. Can I have your honest opinion?

Here are few things to think about:

What lasers does this dermatologist have? Typically any clinic will push and praise the equipment that they have — if he is singing the praises of what he has, it has to be taken with a pinch of salt. Similarly, the plastic surgeon will praise the CO2 laser because that is what he has.
Since the dermatologist is the one who has actually examined you, he is in a better position to recommend what you need (and my advice will be impossible in that case) but it does not hurt to get a second or even a third opinion in case you are in doubt or suspect that you are not getting a fair recommendation.
A CO2 laser is a more time-tested technology and gives more smooth skin but it does not produce the level of firmness that a Titan can. The Genisys laser is a relatively new technology and I have not heard anything about it other than the marketing pitch from the manufacturer. We will have to wait for enough people to have this treatment.
