Uneven breasts due to breastfeeding

Candy writes, “I have been nursing my son on only one breast but I have noticed that I have become uneven. How can I even out?”

To the best of knowledge available, it is a bad idea to nurse on only one breast unless your doctor has advised you to do that. The best thing to do is nurse on one breast per feeding and switch sides from one feed to the other. I don’t know the reason why you chose to do this but if your baby prefers a specific breast, you will need to change that behavior.

What is happening is that milk is being produced more from the preferred breast. This breast is working too hard and is changing shape in the process. Once you change your nursing pattern as I suggest, your breasts will become even again.
