Cosmetic surgery because of career
According to the New York Times, 22% of men and 15% of women are going under the knife to go ahead in their careers. Of course a large number of these people are actors, models, and entertainers, but also include executives in all kinds of jobs. When you are old and have a lot of smart and young colleagues around, looking “old” is no longer an advantage (it used to be that people with experience earned their colleagues’ respect for their insights and wisdom) and may even invite ridicule and disrespect.
And it is not just the United States where this is happening. In another article that I read, Dr. Rashmi Taneja, a plastic surgeon at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi (India) is quoted as saying in the Times of India that “Around 15% of our plastic surgery patients are men hailing from the corporate sector.”
There are several other studies that have shown that “beautiful” people earn more money, get promoted faster, and are generally more liked in the workplace. So yet another reason to make a trip to Beverly Hills and consult with Dr. Robert Rey, who I am sure attibutes a lot of his success to his good looks.
