How to search for a plastic surgeon?
A reader of mine in Vermont writes, “Can you help me pick a qualified surgeon for breast implants? I had picked one surgeon but after reading some blogs I feel like maybe I should do more research in finding the right surgeon. How do I narrow my search for great surgeons in my zip code?”
Here is what you can do:
- Ask someone you trust if they can recommend a surgeon – if this surgeon is not in Vermont, you might want to travel to another sate; there is no better way than a personal referral.
- Go here and search for a board-certified plastic surgeon in the area of your choice.
- Once you find a few surgeons, do a thorough Google search to see if you come up with anything negative – you may get hits on blogs and forums. Here is one plastic surgery forum that I like. Post a message if you don’t come up with anything.
- Schedule an initial (free) consultation and insist on looking at before/after photos. Go prepared with any questions that you have – there are no dumb questions during a consultation with a physician. Also insist on speaking to some of their patients in the area and make sure that you do speak to one or two. Meet with these ladies, if they are willing. You will be able to judge for yourself if the results were good.
- If you are satisfied, then go ahead and have your breast augmentation procedure; if not, restart the prcess. Do not settle for anything that you are not comfortable with.
