Standard of beauty when having cosmetic surgery

I have always believed that beauty lies in the beholder’s eyes and inner beauty is more important that physical beauty. If you do not believe me, just ask a dozen people what beautiful is. For instance, I think Cate Blanchett is beautiful, but that isn’t exactly the case when you ask people from different countries, particularly in Asia and Africa.

So what do you think when New York plastic surgeon George Beraka claims that American standards of beauty are now being globally accepted? Dr. Beraka says, “Because more U.S. models are pictured all over the globe, the standard for beauty has become a thin woman with large breasts, blonde hair and a heart shaped face with high cheek bones, a chiseled nose and a narrow jaw.”

I tend to disagree. If this is your ideal, good for you. But why don’t you develop your own ideal of beauty? Look into the mirror and decide what you want to look like. And if you need help of a cosmetic surgeon to make changes here and there, go ahead and do it, but don’t blindly pick what Dr. Beraka claims to be the global standards of beauty.
