Artefill injectable review

Photo of a woman's face showing before and after results of Artefill filler.
ArteFill is an injectable filler that has been used for more than a decade throughout Europe and Canada under the name Artecoll for treatment of nasolabial folds (the deep lines that run from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth). ArteFill has received approval from the FDA.

ArteFill is different from other dermal fillers (such as Restylane, Revanesse, Radiesse, Sculptra, or Juvederm) because a component of ArteFillis is not absorbed by the body. These micro-spheres provide the permanent support for long-lasting — and often times permanent — wrinkle correction (similar to permanent Botox).

ArteFill contains purified bovine collagen and micro spheres, as I said above. As the collagen portion disappears with time, the microspheres stimulate collagen production by the skin and finally become encapsulated (fully covered) by the patient’s own collagen fibers which provides the lasting results.

A skin test is required to make sure that you are not allergic to the bovine collagen contained in ArteFill. The filler is then typically injected in two sessions, about 2-3 months apart. The cost per treatment varies by destination and cosmetic surgeon but you must plan on spending between $600 and $1200.
