According
to a report in the Journal of Experimental Social
Psychology by two social psychologists, Melissa Burkley
and Jessica Parker of
Oklahoma State University,
single
women showed a distinct preference for mate poaching,
that is
stealing someone's boyfriend or husband. In the
research conducted by two experts on women who were
shown photographs and given descriptions of men, when
the man was described as unattached, 59 percent of the
single women were interested in
pursuing him. When that
same man was described as being in a
committed
relationship, 90 percent were interested.
The experts found that
single women in this study were
significantly more interested in the target when he was
attached. This may be because an
attached man has
demonstrated his ability to commit and in some ways his
qualities have already been pre-screened by another
woman.
What does this mean with regards to dating strategy?
Simply that
women in a committed relationship have to
really watch out for their
male partner to be snatched
by a single or
married women. You simply cannot relax
that your
husband or boyfriend is not at risk even if he
openly
displays his "not available" status. Actually, a woman
maybe better off if he does not wear a
wedding ring and
does not overtly display that he is in a
serious
relationship.
So if you are single and
desperately
looking to find a woman, here is a tip for you: pretend
that you are not really single and definitely do not
describe yourself as
lonely. You do not have to lie but
you can always make it appear that you are sort of
attached. In any case, do not come across as someone
desperate for a relationship.
