Best gifts for college students

We have already talked about banking services for college students and how they should keep their computers and other electronics safe. But Harry from Easton, Pennsylvania, asks about appropriate gifts for children graduatig from high school and headed to college. He wants to give something to his daughter who is graduating this year and is ready to go to college.

Well, we have developed a gift guide for parents like Harry. Their top three picks based on what is useful and what college students are looking for is:

Notebook computers: While most highschool students may already have one, this may be the best time to get a new one for them. Computers these days do not have a life of more than 18 months. Sony has some very cute notebook computer.

PDA and cell phone combo: College students are busy, and we are talking not just with parties and spring breaks. They have tight schedules that include group activities, sports, cultural programs, etc. A PDA allows them to stay organized and since it has a built-in cell phone, they can mark their calendar every time someone discusses plans over the phone. It is also easy to sync this with their laptop later on.

iPod: Like computers and PDA/cell phone, an iPod is a must as well. Yeah, some parents might think of it as a luxury, but that is no longer the case since iPods are also being used to listen to podcasts – from university professors, academic websites, and other podcasters. If they listen to music as well, it is not something to worry about.
