Rent credit score, pros and cons
I have written before about the importance of a good credit score and how you should carefully monitor your credit report. But what if your credit score is poor because of past mistakes or you have not built your credit history yet because you are a recent immigrant or too young? I personally like the old-fashioned approach. Get a department store or gas station credit card or sign up for a secured credit card, pay your bills on time, and build a history over time. That is how I did it. In literally no time you can be on the road to an excellent score.
If anyone tells you otherwise, you are playing with fire. For instance, if a company offers an instant improvement in your credit score by piggybacking on someone else’s credit, then watch this video to find out that it is dangerous for both parties.
