I bought my home without a realtor
I have been trying to read my readers that unless they are crazy they should buy their homes without a realtor. Yes, you will need to work hard rather than rely on someone to hold your hand, but depending on the price of the property, you could end up saving tens of thousands of dollars. Here is a message I received from Mark who bought a home without using a real estate agent.
“I recently bought a home in Colorado without a realtor, and therefore, paid no commissions. The home I bought was for sale by owner, and they had no agent either trying to sell their home. I found the home on a fsbo mls on the net. When I contacted the owners, we set up a date so I could check out the home. At their home , they handed me a flyer that also had information about buying and selling home without an agent. So we began to talk price and I decided to make an offer on the home. We were then able to go online to create a sale agreement and I could also apply for a mortgage at that time. Three days later I got the call for the mortgage and then at the website I was able to use a step-by-step process wizard that helps with title insurance, escrow, home inspection, property insurance, home warranty, even handyman and moving quotes. All for free! Yes I understand that the website must have taken a commission from all the services that I bought but I would have paid those anyway. What saved me the most money is by not having the realtor.
