Latinas that rule the world
It is no surprise that we are seeing a lot of powerful Latinas. According to Time, that has released its list of powerful Hispanics, six of them are women. While some are known to all of us and we may not even think of them as Latins - for instance, Salma Hayek or Jennifer Lopez - others are known just to the Latin community primarily because of their focus.
Cristina Saralegui, the host of the TV program "El Show de Cristina," is also the founder of the magazine "Cristina La Revista." She also published her autobiography, "Cristina! My Life as a Blonde."
Aida Giachello is the founder of Midwest Latino Health Research, Training and Policy Center at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and is working hard to bring healthcare to the Hispanic community.
Sara Martinez-Tucker founded the Hispanic Scholarship Fund to promote higher education among young Hispanics.
Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez is often called the "The Godmother Of Chica Literature." She became known for her book "The Dirty Girls Social Club." Her latest book is called "Playing with Boys.
