Paxil linked to birth defects

Paxil (sold as Seroxat in the UK), the drug that was recently linked to suicide attempts among adults, is now found to cause birth defects as well. According to the FDA and GlaxoSmithKline, the new label will mention these risks though both the FDA and the company were surprised by the findings.

The company has been accused of hiding the adverse side effects of the anti-depression drug in the past and that also led to lawsuits being filed against the company earlier this year.
