Implant complications common for mastectomy patients

Earlier we had reported that women interested in breast reconstruction surgery after mastectomy need not worry about the problems that the implants might cause. Surgeons also find that at the time women have plastic surgery they may also want to get additional tests done to detect cancer.

New research in Denmark, however, suggests that breast implants in women who have undergone mastectomies often result in complications that require more surgery. Overall, one in five women required surgery to treat the problems, according to research by Danish Cancer Society and International Epidemiology Institute.
