Teri Hatcher at the Golden Globes

Remember what your mother told you about always leaving your home with only (clean) underwear. Well not only did Teri Hatcher did not follow her mother's advice before going to the Golden Globes, she also heeded her daughter's advice. The story goes that when Hatcher was leaving home, her daugher noticed her visible panty lines (VPL) and not knowing what to do - she could have always switched to a thong - she just left her panties behind.

Well not a big deal but that naughty boy Isaac Mizrahi was determined to expose the underwear secrets of celebrities on the red carpet and Hatcher had no choice but to confess her secret. But Drew Barrymore's decision not to wear a bra was obvious even without Mizrahi.

So what is the message here?

• Visible pantylines do have solutions all the way from thong panties to seamless panties to pantyhose.
• Sometimes it is OK to just lie, particularly if you are on international television.
