Into The Wild movie review

The best movies are those that are either based on true stories or at least inspired by them. Why? I connect better with them. I - or someone I know - can imaging being in the same situation. I might even learn something from it. Science fiction and horror are great genres for entertainment, but when you watch a movie like "Into The Wild," you will be forced to think about your life.
  1. Are you living life to the fullest?
  2. What is the purpose of life?
  3. Are you in control of your life?
  4. Do you understand your life?
  5. How do you define success?
  6. Do you believe in yourself?
  7. What is the best strategy for life?
  8. What about your family life - can you abandon it for your own sake?
  9. Do you want to live a more spiritual life?
Those questions bother Christopher McCandless who leaves everything behind to live a life of simplicity and explore his true spirit. Watch this beautiful movie as he travels to Alaska to live a simple life with Nature on his side.

Dedication movie review

Mandy Moore is a woman of many talents and it is amazing that she actually acts pretty well in the film "Dedication." Maybe it is because an illustrator is actually a creative person and that she is in real life, apart from being seductive. Billy Crudup is a writer (oh, don't tell me that he is like me - a writer who also makes a living from writing) who must learn to work with Mandy Moore so that he can publish a book. Balls Of Fury movie review

It is pretty obvious that we have a huge crime problem. Despite just about 300 million people, we have the world's largest prison population (How did this happen? Does being the world's richest country also mean more criminals?). In other words, traditional crime-fighting tools don't work.

That is why in the movie "Balls of Fury," the FBI uses ping-pong as a platform to find and kill thugs and crooks. Oh, only if that was so easy. It is one of the stupidest movies that I have seen and I couldn't stop laughing the whole time. No, these are not sophisticated jokes for the preppy, Yale-educated types; these are jokes for making the rest of us have a great time at the movies, especially with Maski Oka, Christopher Walken, and Maggie Q around.

Feast Of Love movie review

Unarguably, Shakespeare was a master because hundreds of years later we are finding out that nothing has really changed. We still struggle with the same set of emotions and interactions among people are no different except that we now send text messages and have video chats. The movie "Feast Of Love," starring Selma Blair and Morgan Freeman is loosely based on "A Midsummer Night's Dream," and shows the ups and downs of human relationships in a small town. Eastern Promises movie review

For the fans of crime and mystery movies, "Eastern Promises" is an interesting movie because it has both (along with beautiful Naomi Watts, who plays a commoner who unknowingly crosses path with the mafia). Viggo Mortensen plays the gang member, who is willing to do anything to safeguard the interest of his and that of his gang. Watch the trailer and the review of the movie in the video below:

Resident Evil Extinction movie review

If you are one of those people that will watch any movie starring (I got hooked on to her flicks after watching Violet) Milla Jovovich, then you will love the "Resident Evil: Extinction" movie. Plus for all those fans of spooky movies, there is Ali Larter. It isn't fun if you have the flesh eating organisms ready to feed on you and an evil corporation pursuing you. Watch a review here.

3:10 To Yuma movie

If you like to watch westerns, it is fun to watch remakes of past films because now you can have all the advantages of latest filmmaking technologies. And let me repeat -- I do enjoy watching retro films and love the simplicity of that time. I also like the fact that the focus was so much on the storyline and acting and less so on dazzling the audience through technology.

The "3:10 to Yuma" is one of those movies that you would like the remake. This one stars Russel Crowe and Christian Bale. Briefly, the story hasn't changed; it is still a classic western story with two men fighting out with their hands and minds. Here is a short video of the film:

Transformers movie review

If you are fascinated by robots like us, you will love "Transformers," the movie for not just geeks but anyone who enjoys the use of technology to transport you a different world (yes, even though one may not think of the Harry Potter series as geeky, the reality is that technology is critical to the movies). As is often the case with movies strong on special effects and visual appeal, the focus is so much on wowing the viewer that the plot isn't necessarily strong - you can often find that an indie film with a $100,000 budget can touch your soul and a multi-million budget movie doesn't. You might feel the same with this one but if you have enjoyed "Transformers" all these years, you might as well end the chapter with this one though I think that Shia LaBeouf has done a remarkable job and Megan Fox is hot. Here is another excellent review by Christy Lemire.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Those of us who are the so-called Harry Potter addicts follow each and everything that happens in the world of witches and wizards. So it is just so exciting to wait for "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," a movie that will tie the story together from the previous set. What you will also notice in this movie is that the actors are no longer kids that they were in previous movies ("Time flies; isn't it?) and are quite grownup indeed. As you will see in the clip below, they actually get to kiss (which both Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson enjoyed, according to them) and act more like adults. Of course, despite the rumors about the leaking of the plot, looks as if not much is known about the contents of the last book in the series. Here is a video of the actors talking about the movie, their kissing experience, and of course, several clips from the film itself.

Color Me Kubrick film video

I am a big fan of John Malkovich, particularly after watching "Being John Malkovich." Is it hard to play yourself? Probably. I am sure that if someone were to ask me be me, I will just get so confused. While most of the time I am just being me but when someone tells me to be me, I watch each and every action of mine - in the process, I definitely am not "me."

In the movie "Color Me Kubrick," Malkovich plays another real person - Stanley Kubrick (the renowned film director and producer). A difficult task, indeed. In this movie too, like rest of them, Malkovich is brilliant. Watch the trailer.

American Pie Naked Mile movie trailer

You know I have been a a big fan of the whole "American Pie" set of movies. While some of them are somewhat juvenile, they are extremely funny to watch no matter how old you are. So the other day I was just doing some research on Tara Reid and ended up learning a lot more about "American Pie." That is when I ran into this rather long (and very funny) trailer for the "American Pie Naked Mile."

Very briefly, this is the synopsis of the movie, according to Universal Studios. Upon realizing that he may be the first Stiffler to ever graduate from high school with his virginity intact, Steve Stiffler's younger brother Erik sets out on a mission to slip between the sheets with a girl before slipping into his cap and gown. In order to accomplish his libidinous goal, however, Erik will first have to find a willing partner; and what better place to find a woman whose ready and willing to help him maintain family tradition than at the world famous Naked Mile? Who knows, with a little advice from Jim's open-minded father (Eugene Levy), there may be some hope for Erik yet.

Trailer of Black Sheep movie

Mel Gibson has been able to terrorize millions of people worldwide. First, he made the movie "The Passion Of The Christ," which was a favorite movie of the Christian faithfuls, but the violence, the gore, the blood made even the most faithful uncomfortable.

And if you did not get scared enough, he offered Apocalypto. And in case you did not know, he also does not like Jews.

Now comes another scary movie from Mel Gibson's company: Black Sheep. Warning: the horror in the trailer alone might scare you. If you have the guts, watch it now.
