Restore virginity with plastic surgery

Details about hymenoplasty or hymen repair procedure

Photo of a bride on her wedding dayWhen Madonna sang the song "Like a virgin," we all made fun of her. "Like a virgin; Touched for the very first time," she said. Well, if you are not a virgin any more but want to be one, plastic surgery can make it happen. It is a controversial procedure, though, and still not widely available. After all, many ask, how can you restore your virginity?

Newspapers and magazines are full of stories on this procedure that goes by several names: Hymenoplasty or hymen repair or “revirgination.” It is still one of those procedures that are quietly done by doctors who do not like to talk much about them at academic and medical conferences.

Procedures to repair the hymen are common in the Middle East where not only it is expected that a woman remain a virgin till she gets married but also that the man and his family will check to see if a woman was virgin or not. Even Lady Diana was subjected to a virginity test.

But hymenoplasty is gaining popularity even among happily married women who are having it to surprise their partner (in some cases, after years of being married and having children). Others are giving it as a gift to their husbands - the chance to make love to a virgin. And of course, some are having it for the same reasons that Muslims and Catholics do.  In other words, hymen repair has the same status as other plastic surgery procedures like vaginoplasty, labiaplasty, and pubic lift.

Hymenoplasty is a relative simply procedure and can be done under local anesthesia. You can be in and out of the hospital within a matter of hours. The recovery period is, however, long - about six to eight weeks. It will take you even longer to be ready to make love. Generally speaking, there are no complications from surgery.  The cost of the procedure is all over the place depending on where you have it, but expect to pay somewhere between $2,000 to $5,000.

Should a woman have it?

In my opinion, it should be a decision that a woman should take without any pressure from any one. I am not sure that hymenoplasty makes a whole lot of sense for most women. The results last only for one time of lovemaking. I think that couples have better ways to enjoy their relationships.
