Recovery
from plastic surgery
Simple
tips on healthy recovery
Summary:
A lot of people have poor understanding of
what happens after plastic surgery. How long does it take before you are "normal" again? What are the restrictions during the recovery period? Can anything go wrong during the recovery period?

The recovery period after plastic surgery varies from person to person, and of course, depends on the procedure you are having and if you are having multiple procedures at the same time. For instance, your recovery period may vary if you have just
liposuction versus both liposuction and
tummy
tuck. The same applies to a face lift along with liposuction.

After the surgery, the surgeon is going to put bandages to prevent swelling. The bandages are worn for several days. After they are removed, you will need to follow other instructions from the surgeon if the swelling does not go away. While it may seem that plastic surgery is no different than a visit to a
spa, the reality is that you may not be able to go in public for days/weeks. Many people find it awkward to go to work with bandages particularly if they are in an area visible to everyone. That means that you may either need to take time off or
work from home, if that is an option.

The first few days, the patient experiences pain and swelling. The doctor will give you
medication for
pain-relief. The discomfort will gradually reduce within 10 days. Some swelling will still remain. The
scars will look pink and larger in the beginning, but they too will fade as time passes. (Related:

It may take a couple of months to get back to your
fitness
routine, but depending on your type of work, within a few days you can return. Every case is different, so your doctor will tell you what is right for you.

Any surgery has risks and cosmetic surgery is not an exception. Before reading the following
potential complications, let us tell you that most elective surgery procedures are less risky because if they are too risky, a surgeon will

Excessive bleeding is a common risk but doctors know how to deal with it.
Development of infections is another common problem, particularly if you end up with a cheap surgeon who does not
have proper hygiene in the clinic. Infections can be a major problem. Not only does the healing take longer, you may even have to undergo another surgery. Plus, the scars become worse. Therefore,
always select a good
surgeon. In addition, men
who suffer from high blood pressure may develop hematoma. |
Sensitivity problems on the body part with the plastic
surgery is another side effect. It can become either over-sensitive or
somewhat/totally numb.
Leaks or breaks can happen if you have any kind of implant. If an implant breaks, the solution will leak into the body. You must contact your surgeon immediately if this happens. Most doctors know how to deal with it.
