One
MYNIPPON member Vegrule gives the reasons for loving anime,
“I would have to say because of the artistic value. I
look at the Power Puff Girls and say that it is well done. I
like almost all animated shows but I like them much more
when they are detailed.
Another reason I like anime is the fact that they
have interesting storylines while all of the other shows
have one story for each show.
In case of anime there is a series where the story
goes on for a number episodes. I think that just makes me
feel more involved.”

Lilgothicchic
writes, “I don't want to brag but I am an artist. I work on
anime related characters by making up my own. My
most popular is Neishia. Everyone
from my school loves her attitude and her design. Other
favorite anime characters are action ones like Tenchi and
Dragonball. They
all have complicated scenes and challenging sketches to view
and give me ideas. The
thought of becoming an anime artist being an American crashes
my dreams down but I can still be a cartoonist and have the
same values as my idol Akiri Toriyama. Anime
is actually a spark for my talent, in which I embrace every
character I see and like.” |
 The
Amphibian is quite not sure and cannot put into words why he
likes
anime, “I think the art is more stylized, the
backgrounds are a lot detailed. There seems to be more layers
to it. Anime tends to use more mature perspective shots. And
as a friend said to me recently - no matter who the character
is, they always are very beautiful.
As for storylines, I like the ongoing storylines too.
The ones that take multiple episodes to fully evolve. And they
are usually willing to go further with their dramatic
storylines, they seem less afraid to deal with issues that
American cartoons (or even TV shows) are afraid of dealing
with.
Squaresoft
is quite sure about his feelings, “I like anime because the
storylines are really interesting and range from a variety of
things. Like from androids to twisted love stories. I also
think the art is unique.
The
people who like anime
In
Xandri’s opinion, “Anime is one of the most open-minded
and diverse parts of pop culture there is. It is not only very
entertaining, but intriguing as well. Anime is often the kind
of thing that can make you think, where you sit back and
really ponder what you've just watched. It is often very
intellectual, and combines nicely the genres of action,
sci-fi, fantasy, comedy, and drama. I could give many
examples, but that would take far too long, considering how
wonderfully the anime community has grown in the past decade
or two, in both Japan and other countries. Places like the
United States, Canada, France, China, Taiwan, and Singapore
are just a few countries that have felt the impact of anime.
Also, one of the other reasons I love anime the most is
because I have seen it open minds. People who were once
ignorant, in some way, changed drastically after being drawn
into anime. Of the anime fans I know, some may not be so
financially successful or so, but they are the most open
minded and understanding people I know. They are willing to
help another anime fan out at any time. Most of the anime fans
I know are quite generous. If they find out you haven't seen a
certain series, they are usually completely willing to either
make copies of it for you or let you borrow it. Anime fans
want to share their world with the rest of the world. And what
a wonderful world that is.”
Princess
Chaos loves anime a lot because it's an escape from the
normal, ordinary cartoons and the real world. She tells us,
“By traveling to the realms of Lodoss Island (Record of
Lodoss War), Eden (Macross Plus), Cephiro (MKR), Tokyo-3 (Evangelion),
Hayfong (Outlaw Star), and even our own planet Earth, it gives
viewers a chance to view the impossible and relate to the hero
but at the same time, hate the evil guys! I think anime has
something for everyone out there! I grew up with anime and the
Japanese culture my entire life (I'm Japanese and English is
my second language) and to me, anime is not just something I
watch for entertainment - it's something that I love for the
sheer relations of my life to the stories!
